Matthew Messica Event 8 Champion

With four events running concurrently today, including the Bar Poker Open Championship, Event 8 was the first to reach a winner. The Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em Event created a prize pool of $16,781 easily surpassing the $10,000 guarantee.

Jeffrey Kurtz improved on last night’s Event 5’s 7th place finish by coming in 3rd ($1,921) this time around. Event 5’s 2nd place finisher ended up making his second final table and finishing in 9th place ($347).

Another double final tabler is Joe Rapp who came in 5th place in the very first of this series, taking home $2,433 for his efforts.

When the dust settled it was Matthew Mesisca who was the last man standing. Mesisca outlasted a field of 106 players on his way to claiming the $3,272 first prize as well as the Bar Poker Open Trophy.

While most were watching the play down of the Bar Poker Open National Championship, we have a good showing for one of the last events on the schedule. Event 8 drew 106 entries to surpass the $10,000 and create a prize pool worth $15,423. The last 18 players will share a piece of the pool with min-cash banking $231 and the Event 8 champ walking away with $4,552 along with the trophy.

While most people are concentrating on Day 2 of the National Championship, we have the first of three final tournaments in the series ready to go. This was has a nice buy-in for those still around with $10,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Event 8 has a $150+$30 buy-in with deep stacks and a lot of play. They’ll sit down to 25,000 stacks and play 20-minute levels with late registration and re-entries available until the start of Level 9. This is a one-day tournament and we will award one of the last Bar Poker Open trophies of the series later today.
