The numbers were crunched and the accounting is complete. The official numbers show 706 entries into the 2017 Bar Poker Open National Championship and it will begin paying out the $104,285 prize pool starting tomorrow morning. The last 72 players will split that money between them with a min-cash earning $302 but all shooting for the $24,190 top prize along with the Bar Poker Open Championship trophy.

Flight A officially drew 463 players yesterday and 46 survived to make the money while advancing to Day 2 on Monday. Ronald Licari of Riverchasers bagged a huge chip lead and his 1.2 million is better than 350,000 more than second place Robert Oswald. Oswald is also from Riverchasers along with third place stack Darin Wright. Altogether, Riverchasers was responsible for 12 of the 46 players who moved forward with Eastern Poker Tour and KOntenders each sending six players to Day 2 and New York Free Poker sending four so far.

Another 24 players will earn a seat in Day 2 before the night is through setting us up with 70 coming back.

On the fourth hand of hand-for-hand a player limps from late position, as does Robert Oswald from the small blind. Jason Campbell is all in from the big blind for less than one big blind.

Both players check down the board. Oswald turns over and Campbell mucks his hand as he becomes Flight 1A’s “Bubble Boy”.

Players are now bagging and tagging their stacks.

Joe Sgro – Riverchasers

A player moves all in for around 100,000 from middle position and Joe Sgro calls from late position. Middle position turns over and needs to get lucky against Sgro’s . Sgro tells the dealer “No Ace!” as every card hits the board.

The runout is and it appears the dealer listened as Sgro dodged the ace to increase his chip lead. He now sits comfortably with around 600,000.

A player in early position opened to 15,000 and next to act Chris “Cornel Poker” Short moved all in for 68,000. Early position called all in for less.

Short turned over and needed to hold against his opponent’s . The board came and there were no aces to be found so Short scored the knockout.

Chris “Cornel Poker” Short opened to 16,000 from middle position, Susan Spause called from the cutoff, and the small blind three-bet to 35,000.

Short goes “pocket nines is at it again” as he throws his hand in the muck. Spause called. The flop came and the small blind checked. Spause moved all in and the small blind tanked a while before folding.

Short says “Show the bluff for the blog!” Spause grins slyly, then puts her cards in the muck.
