Rob Ryan (No Limit Pub Poker), 2019 Bar Poker Open East Coast Champion
The annual Bar Poker Open East Coast Championship returned to the Borgata this weekend for the sixth time and it was the biggest ever. After two starting flights and playing down on Day 2, No Limit Pub Poker’s Rob Ryan dominated the final table to earn the title along with $26,838.
The Championship drew 820 entries for the top field in the history of the tournament and the $100,000 Guarantee was easily surpassed. They put more than $120,000 in the prize pool with the last 90 players taking some home.
Flight A drew an even 500 entries and Ryan ended the day with the biggest stack. Another 320 entries joined Flight B, the guarantee topped early in the day with George Smith the top stack at the end of the Sunday session. Kate Koper (Premier Island Poker) returned for Day 2 with the second biggest stack and she would ride it down to the final table.
Koper began the eight-handed final table with the chip lead and Ryan was in the middle of the pack. That changed quickly as Ryan eliminated all but two of final table players until he was heads-up with Koper for the title. He had a better than a three-to-one chip lead and it took only two hands for him to win all the chips in the tournament.
It was an aggressive, quick-paced final and the perfect ending to a great Championship.
Congratulations to Rob on his title and thank you to all the Bar Poker Open players for a fantastic weekend series.
